One Week Until Spectrum!

There are only 7 days until Cameco Spectrum! The event is running from January 14th to 17th, 2016.

Hours of Operation:

Friday: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
Sunday: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm

The event will be held in the Engineering Building, located at the University of Saskatchewan.

Open Call for Exhibitions

Spectrum 2016 is well underway and we’re looking for exhibitions to fill the halls of the Engineering Building at the U of S! These exhibitions are created, designed, and demonstrated by you; this is your chance to show off your talents and experience!

If you are interested in running a display, exhibition, or demonstration at Spectrum, please send an e-mail to Matt Palsich at with the following information:

  • Subject: Spectrum 2016 Exhibition Proposal – [Name]
  • Name, College, Year
  • A paragraph summary of what you are interested displaying at Spectrum
  • An estimated square footage of the area you will need for your display – NOTE: we will try our best to accommodate you, but there is no guarantee you will be allotted this space.
  • Why you think your display is a valuable asset to Spectrum

Executive Positions Available!

Planning for Spectrum 2016 has begun and we are looking to fill 5 Executive positions! Spectrum is one of the oldest traditions in the College of Engineering; held every 3 years since 1959, it has become known as “North America’s largest student-run exhibition of science and technology”. The show features student and industrial exhibitors from across North America, workshops, and speakers.

To apply for a position, please email your resume and a cover letter to Zenon Kripki at In your cover letter, please include:
– your name, discipline, year of study, and expected graduation year
– position(s) you would be interested in
– why you would be an ideal candidate for this/these position(s)
– any past experiences with Spectrum or other large-scale events
– expected course load for the Winter 2015, Fall 2015, and Winter 2016 terms

If you are thinking of applying for an Executive position, keep in mind that Executive positions are volunteer positions are at minimum a one year commitment lasting from February 2015 to at least February 2016. All executive members are responsible for representing Spectrum to the College, the University, alumni, and public, and are expected to remain students of the College of Engineering throughout the term. Other responsibilities include attending all meetings of the executive committee as well those of their directorate.

The available Executive positions are as follows:

Facilities Executive
The role of the Facilities Executive is to oversee all services (parking, shuttle service), equipment, and safety concerns of the Spectrum venue. These include all services and conveniences required by all exhibits, show setup and take down, and traffic and security considerations.

Public Relations Executive
The role of the Public Relations (PR) Executive is to advertise Spectrum to the College of Engineering, U of S campus, local schools, and the general public through any forms of media deemed appropriate. The PR Executive is responsible for Spectrum’s media relations, publicity, and school tours.
